Arakan Army clashed with a joint column of the 233th Light Infantry Battalion of Myanmar Army based in Buthidaung and Myanmar Border Guard Police Force

23 June 2020

The Arakan Army has repeatedly announced the unilateral ceasefire declarations along with the Brotherhood Alliance, focusing on national reconciliation and peace building process. Although we have restricted ourselves to the fighting in accordance with our ceasefire announcement, battles are continuously occurring due to the Myanmar Army sea-land-air joint offensive assaults against the Arakan Army.

At the same time, the Myanmar Army has been launching a series of attacks against the Arakan Army amid the prevention and combating the spread of Coronavirus.

Therefore, at 5:17 pm on 22 June 2020, a joint column of the 233th Light Infantry Battalion of Myanmar Army based in Buthidaung, Myanmar police force clashed with the Arakan Army nearby the road of Ahngumaw to Maungdaw for about one hour.

The clashes were breaking out because the enemy Myanmar Army troops and Border Guard Police Force had engaged in combat with the mobile columns of the Arakan Army while their clearance operations were being conducted.

Almost ten enemies were executed by the Arakan Army. There are also some who got medium and serious injured from our sides.
